Welcome Letter

Dear HITH Society Members, Friends, Colleagues, and Innovative Thinkers,

In warmly encouraging you to attend the 15th HITH Society Annual Scientific Meeting, I would like to first pay my respects to the Kaurna people, the traditional owners and custodians of the Adelaide Plains, and to Elders past, present and emerging.

On behalf of the conference organising team, I would like to say we will be thrilled to welcome you to this year’s conference.  The conference will be held in spring time in Adelaide, from 15 to 17 November 2023 at the Adelaide Hilton.  Please put these dates in your calendar and look out for updates.

The annual HITH Conference has become a cornerstone of the HITH Calendar and is the ‘must attend’ HITH event of the year. This year’s Conference will strive to offer plenty of networking opportunities to meet and interact with colleagues from Australia, New Zealand, as well as our invited speakers, sponsors and exhibitors.

The 2022 event attracted 262 registrants, our highest number yet, and we look forward to a continued momentum and focus on HITH, which we see as a cornerstone of sustainable health care in the future.  This belief has led to the development of the theme for 2023 – ‘HITH – no longer on the fringe’- and acknowledges that the health system now needs HITH services, and HITH is striving to continually improve.  More importantly consumers need to have the choice of their care in their own homes, when it is safe to do so.

The Hilton Adelaide is located in the centre of Adelaide city, overlooking Victoria Square in the heart of Adelaide’s entertainment and shopping district. The hotel is an easy walk to local attractions such as the wonderful Central Market and Chinatown, many funky bars and restaurants, and is just a short tram ride to the shopping mall, the Adelaide Botanic Gardens, the Zoo, the Art Gallery of SA, the Museum and the University of Adelaide.

We look forward to welcoming you to the 2023 Annual Scientific Meeting!

Dr Helena Williams, Chair, Conference Organising Committee; Executive Medical Director, SA/East Coast, Silverchain

On behalf of the 2023 Conference Committee

The HITH Society Annual Scientific Meeting is organised by the HITH Society of Australasia, the peak independent organisation for HITH within Australasia. It is an independent, volunteer, not-for-profit member-based organisation. It seeks to evaluate and improve the delivery of hospital-level care in the home.  HITH is acute inpatient equivalent care, utilising highly skilled staff, hospital technologies, equipment, medication, and safety and quality standards, to deliver hospital-level care within a person’s place of residence or preferred (non-hospital) treatment location.
